Lavender Cocktails

It’s officially flower season and it's time to celebrate!  Lavender is one of our favorite florals – its delicate color and shape make it a perfect addition to your wedding decor and color palette.  We love how versatile it is – it can be used in fragrance, skincare, decor, food, and drinks. Today’s focus is drinks! Lavender is in the same family as many popular herbs (mint, rosemary, sage, and thyme) and the potency of its flowers increase with drying. Try adding the sweetness of lavender to your menu by incorporating it into your specialty drinks! It always makes a delicious and beautiful combination when added to your toast of champagne, but here we share a few other cocktail recipes in which to mix in lovely (and tasty) lavender.

Lavender simple syrup

Lavender Simple Syrup

All of the recipes below require a lavender simple syrup.  It’s real easy:

Ingredients (makes about 6-8 oz of syrup):

1 cup sugar (or 1 ½ cups honey) 2 cups water Small handful of dried lavender blossoms*

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan.  Bring to a boil and then simmer about 10 minutes or until a syrup-like consistency is complete.  The longer it simmers and sits, the more taste and smell you'll get from the lavender.  Strain the liquid into a bowl to remove lavender bits, then pour into a jar and refrigerate. Enjoy!

*Dried lavender has a strong flavor, so a little goes a long way. Add in less or more to your liking!
